Is this too bad to reply to? What should I do different I thought it was ok
Its fucking boring. Think of something interesting or pretty to capture.
Why did you take a photo of that building? Because it was there? Not good enough.
Why did you post it here? Because it somewhat follows the rule of thirds? Not good enough.
Think first. Take photos later. Don't just wander around your college campus like a lost child taking a photo every two and a half minutes.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with taking mindless snapshits. It's how you figure out for yourself what works and what doesn't. Just don't post them here expecting to be praised.

agreed. ill add one tho:
try to tell a story with your images.

Not OP, but I also want to get into photography. Took this with my phone, but I've got a camera coming in soon... Thoughts on this?

I fucking hate you and everything you stand for

what about this scene do you think is interesting?
Not trying to be a smartass here; that's a question you should ask yourself before taking a picture. Use your photo to highlight a thing that you find aesthetically interesting; if some element in the photo does not directly relate to that core thing, cut it out.
There's a lot of things in this photograph: skyline, bright lights, highway, walkway, weird thing between highway and walkway, houses, etc. etc.. Pick the most interesting one and photograph just that.
Practice isolating that subject in your frame. That often means getting off of the sidewalk and standing in the median or atop a building - that's good, since photographs are usually more interesting taken from non-everyday perspectives.

Alright, thanks anon! I really love the way the highway splits into multiple directions. Each going to a different location that can be seen in the picture... it's incredibly soothing for me. It reminds me that I have choices and that I'm not on some linear path in life. Thanks anon, once my camera gets here I'll be sure to remember what you've said

How cliché.
The cringe is strong with this one.
