Best MF film setup (body + lens) for portraiture? Must be off cam flash/strobe compatible.
>>2996548
Pentax 645n, Mamiya Leaf 645, RZ67
Lens anything from 70mm to 200mm, depending on application
>>2996548
I use RB67 + 180mm Sekor C and PC-sync adapter and Yong Nuo transmitter receivers
>>2996548
Anything smaller than 67 is for pussy bitches
Any camera with a hot shoe can do off cam flash
>>2996566
645 is fine if you know how to frame, stop being a pussy.
>>2996567
Crop babby
>>2996572
Negligible
>>2996576
6x9 is twice as large.
Go compare a half frame shot to 135, it's about as far from negligible as is possible.
>>2996581
Keep believing that gearfag
>>2996588
>size doesn't matter
Why's it always the people using small formats that say that?
Any pro will tell you, any size film can take a photo, but, the larger, the better quality it will be. This is due to grain structure (physical resolution) and lens quality (transferred resolution) the larger the film the less apparent grain and the greater apparent sharpness.
While we're here in a MF thread, how does the Pentacks 67 perform for landscape? I heard the shutter can cause serious camera shake during long exposures, is this true? I was also looking at the 645n
>>2996593
if it has a mirror lock-up mode it should be fine
>>2996598
hahaha, if you think MF snobbery is bad wait till you see LF elitism
>>2996593
The 67 and 645 aren't comparable, the 645 is tiny and great for snapshots, the 67 is BIG and phenomenal quality.
I think mirror lock was added to later revisions of the 67.
The problem with both however is the lack of a swappable back, if you know you're gonna do a whole roll each time you shoot it's ok though, or just get multiple bodies.
>>2996598
Nothing to do with being nasty, op said they wanted the best, portraiture is one of the areas that benefit most from a larger sensor. Too many people here try to sell others on what they have rather than what's best.
I have 645, 66 and 67 bodies, they have different uses.

Looks like the 90s edgelord rig trying to be cool in the 2010s
why shoot 645 nowadays when 67 bodies cost about the same used?

I almost went 67 but ultimately the Fuji ga645zi just had everything I wanted in a convenient package.

>Any camera with a hot shoe can do off cam flash
Or a PC port, like most medium format cameras you dumb little shit. That statement alone proved you have no idea wtf you're talking about.
>>2997056
Because your cost per frame is much cheaper. Every two rolls shot on 6x4.5 = three rolls on 6x7.
>>2997155
This. I have 8 MF cams, none have hotshoes.
Why no love for Hasselblad 500 series? Price?
>>2997202
That's probably part of it.
The same money as a decent Hassy setup will get you an electronic 645 that has AF, AE, and auto advance, is an aspect ratio that most portrait shooters prefer to 1:1, and is cheaper to shoot in the long term. (More frames per roll.) The only real disadvantage is that most are focal plane shutter, which does suck for studio work.
>>2997202
When you can break into similar 6x6 systems for 1/3 of the price, the Hasselblad starts to look pretty silly.
2000 series are nice though, with the faster x-sync. I've heard they're even more finicky than the 500 series though.

I'd recommend getting the III version, or the III "S" if movements is not important. The III uses easy to get CR123 batteries, but can also run on external power supply or AA battery pack.
The S version is quite a bit cheaper as well. This entire system is now ridiculously cheap, although the 180mm f/3.2 is somewhat rare.

For portraiture? I don't think so.
