Sure! My first dslr was a d200 with 18-200 nikkor glass. Learned alot with that setup when it came to intro to digital.
If I may make a suggestion, if you plan on using the dx lens platform for a while; invest in some really good glass and realize that you might go through 4-6 bodies before the glass needs to be replaced.
