How often should one take pictures if he wants to become a pro anytime soon?

Shooting a lot has nothing to do with pro. The picture is taken before you even press the shutter.
If a "pro" to you just someone operating a machine that's ok too.

Being a pro means you charge for your work. A lot of bad photographers are pro (which is fine by me, I don't really care).

Every single day, almost obsessively. Not a pro though, it's just fun.

Im not 100% sure on the qualifications these days, but when I was getting my photography license I had to submit 20,000 properly exposed and in focus photographs. Plus 10 live hours of photography lectures. In total it was about 150 hours of work. Which took me about three months. So it really just depends on how much free time you have.
