post yfw the photo of the year was shot on a Sony.
>>2986125
>>2986116
Not necessarily. It's taken in an art gallery at an event. Take a look at the surroundings.
All it required was someone pulling the trigger on the shutter release :^)
>>2986118
Well thanx. Another Allah Crackers moment.

>>2986112
No, this one is better honestly. Aesthetic
>>2986183
shame that the gun is not against a white wall
It's so ridiculous, it's like a stock photo
but it's actually real
kek
>>2986185
I know, so close to absolute perfection. Dont think they can ask for a reshoot though.
>>2986145
composition? You really think the person took the time to compose the photo
>>2986183
Aesthetics are nearly meaningless when it comes to news photos, OP's picture is just flat-out absurd and very memorable while this one isn't, looks like something out of a James Bond fan film
I wonder what he was shouting.
"Death to the demon Andrei Karlov!"
>>2986213
Damn. He had the opportunity to go down in history as a total fucking badass. And he blew it.
>>2986185
Too bad the photographer didn't have a Lytro.
>>2986128
what is this, fucking hollywood?
What would /p/ do in that situation?
Id switch so silent shutter and fire away, curse at the buffer filling up then get shot.
>>2986228

At first I thought the man in the suit was a guard
But now that I know that's the guy that actually killed him I don't think i'd be ballzy enough to take that photo. Maybe if I had a camera with a silent shutter.
>>2986236
Don't know if you can do it with Lytro's still cameras, but with their cinema camera you could isolate the shooter from the background like with a green screen.

I really hope this stuff doesn't die out too fast. I think it could be great in the future. However, I'm 100% sure they are building this stuff for the military, theres no way they could single handedly build equipment like that and let it fail, then just keep building increasingly more elaborate items
There's also a pic before the assassination with the killer in the background staring at the embassador giving his speech
>>2986223
>hollywood invented blood
>there won't be holes in someone's body after being shot with hard metal projectiles at thousands of feet per second at point blank
>no blood will come out either from the exit wounds or while they lie on the ground
Yeah, no, it's an obvious false-flag. He was never shot even once. The "gunman" is some russian actor who pretend-shoots another russian actor.
Just imagine if the guy was a real photographer using pentax and a 1.7 50mm manual.

You're an idiot. He was shot in the back, he's a fat fuck, and fell ontop of the wounds. Also, the pictures you see, were litterally taken like 3 seconds after he fell down, not much time for blood to get out after that.

I thought the same thing. I bet they were so fucking happy to have their photos on display. Probably even took an extra trip or two to get some good photos in there. They labored for over a month printing, calibrating colors, reprinting, mounting the photos, and working with the curator of the exhibit. They probably invited their family, because it was a big moment for them. Then the assassination happens. All that work for nothing... They can't even look at the photos now without bringing back the horrible memories. Only a handful of people even got to see the photos hung on the walls, but not anymore. The exhibit closes on it's first day. They send the photos back in a sealed box months later. A few speckles of blood from the killer is the only memento you have from that day. They pack away their camera, figuring that they were somehow responsible for this event. They're done now, no more appreciation for the art that started all this...

question /p/, is this shot on film?
I admit it is well lit, and well composed, but having to overly treat it like a piece of art is an overstatement. It's journalism, and that is all. Besides, I need to understand that some of you are from different countries.
Being serious, why do any of you consider it is a piece of art?

The tasteful thickness of it.
>>2986183
>>2986466
I personally find it aesthetically pleasing, and that the even lighting and almost Gursky like framing give this surreal feeling. Like, this is a hectic and stressful situation but it feels oddly tranquil.
>>2986460
no
>>2986466
My personal opinion is that this is an important journalist photo for the modern age in general. It's so close, so raw, in the exact moment of it happening. It not only shows the event, but it shows just how quickly news spreads. War photography and journalist photography has always been a thing, but this is one of those few photos that looks completely staged because of how perfect it looks.
Just to compare with the photo you posted, yours captures an emotion for the viewer to empathize with; OP captures the energy, emotion, terror, and starkness of an assassination as it happens. It's like the entire Zapruder Film in one still.
>>2986460
I believe it was shot on sight
>>2986475
>It's like the entire Zapruder Film in one still.
That's as elegant a description as any I've read today, anon.
At the end of the day, we watched a Pullitzer be won this morning; as news photographs go, some poor bastard just got knocked out of history's top ten

>>2986112
The most important question is how would Ken have shot this scene?
>>2986112
Best part: it was taken at a photo gallery.
I think the Russian ambassador did the opening ceremony.
So if this ends up in another photo gallery, they could invite the new Russian ambassador to open it.

But, I think it with the photo closest to the gun, can make this photo work in a creative perspective. it's dim, and uses bold reds and blacks. As if it was an allegory for an intensity that had just occurred, and simmering down below into a darkness of death. And with the gun pointed at it, the photographer intends to draw our attention to the fear of the photo, only to pan out on the entire scene out of Greek Tragedies. His guard; his confidant, betraying him for power of a religion.
>>2986607
or could have it all be a CIA/Mossad maneuver.
