I personally enjoy smooth skies quite a bit. It makes everything a bit simpler and sorta uncanny at the same time so that's usually what I go for
I completely agree with the CA though. I haven't done anything to correct for CA and bumping the clarity to deal with really soft raws doesn't help. I'm fast approaching the point where I need to really edit better because even though my gear is pretty bad I should be able to get rid of most of the CA problems. Sharpness I'll work on when I get better gear. These were all shot on 100 dollar plastic fantastic lenses

Well like I said earlier I could probably work on my editing skills to get rid of some CA and sharpen up edges at the same time. Right now my lightroom workflow is pretty fucky and I'm probably making the CA worse in those shots
I'm not seeing a ton of CA in the 100% crops but in the downsized ones it sure stands out more

I've fought with trying to compose what I shoot in a more original less crutchy way and I still probably will attempt to do so because it's fun, but shooting generally head on composing for simple alignment has been really satisfying lately and provided decent results

It will bring out all the details because the color saturation won't get blown out so easily. Much more leverage on lighting and shadows.
I experimented with it first and made a huge difference even on the camera screen like the texture of a flowers petals or subtle cloud lines in the sky, more realistic tones at the golden hour and sunset. It brings the most with lots of small detail.
Basically it's about getting more data recorded to be used in post.

This. Changing the color space in camera changes the color space of the cameras jpgs only, the raw data is not affected: The raw file remains the same except for its included preview, which is jpg and is seen in the cameras image review. On your computer, Lightroom renders a new preview based on the raw data and Lightroom's standard settings. The included preview is overwritten without being used. The result is equal, regardless of the cameras color space.
Also AdobeRGB renders a wider color range, but is bound to the same bit-rate, which defaults to 8-bit for jpgs. This results in larger color steps (more range on the same 255 steps) which give more contrast, more banding and less subtle details. In practice, except for the green channel, the difference won't be noticeable.

Your raw processing is not affected by the in-camera color space.
For jpgs the recorded data is represented in values 0-255. AdobeRGB as compared to sRGB renders a wider gamut on these values, which is an improvement only if the colors are clipped in sRGB and is a diminishment otherwise. Imagine very fine color differences mapped on the 0-255 scale resulting in 2 steps in AdobeRGB but 7 steps in sRGB.

Honestly, I'm confused. For a shot like this, it needs to be fucking perfect. That's where the benefit is. It's not an interesting subject in and of itself. Rather, it's interesting in the way its presented. This is a photo about technical quality, and it's not quite there. It's fucking close, but it's not perfect. It would've been relatively easy to get it perfect. Don't be lazy.

This is the only one that's been heavily edited but I have no bad feelings against heavy editing in general I'll remove powerlines or random distracting features if needed. I also like to remove signs and extraneous text to simplify the image down to make it less distracting
However for this photo the image I had in my mind of how the tree would look far better if it was completely isolated and placed on a plane created by the color the sky and the snow already was
For my purposes heavy editing shouldn't detract from my photos though because I've definitely wanted to try out doing more clearly edited uncanny valley stuff and images like that are a nice little exercise in doing that

That's how I had it originally but it felt kinda weird since there's zero shadows
I left the fence because it aligns nicely horizontally and vertically and divides that space up between the pure untouched snow and the used snow

Well I was standing on the level shown with the fence and it just looked a little worse at that angle I didn't even snap it
