At first Sony marketed it as waterproof and weatherproof, as did the initial reviewers, and now the only mention you can find of anything like that on Sony's website is "dust and moisture protection" on the marketing specifications in regard to the grip. "moisture protection", unlike the term waterproof, isn't defined by ISO as far as I can tell and means nothing more than the back of it has a solid surface that vapor can't directly penetrate.

So don't breathe on your camera out in the cold and don't live in London.
