Greetings /p/

I was wondering if you guys could help me.

So a few days ago I went to a birthday party where I was payed to take photos. Usually whenever I have to export the RAW files I just connect the camera body to the computer and do the importing from there. Due to unfavorable circumstances I had to go in another city for this week and got my SD card with me, hoping that I might be able to work on the photos. Now the laptop that I work on here(unlike the desktop on which I usually work my photos on) has an SD slot. I put the SD card in but I get pic related.

Now,the question is,is there anything I can do to get rid of this and import my photos in LR or do I have to wait until I have access to the camera and do it the old fashioned way?

Try mounting the SD card in Linux.

File table on the card is corrupt. Do not write to it or anything.

Acquire a copy of File Scavenger or similar file recovery software and load the card into it. All your pictures should be recoverable, and you may want to invest in another SD card they have a life expectancy of 5-10 years before they do shit like this.

This can be caused from turning off power to the card while a file is being written to it or a simple I/O error, try it with the camera hooked up via USB cable first. If that doesn't work, seek file recovery software. FS isn't free but if you dig around the Internet (or happen to be in Springfield, MO tomorrow morning) you can get something similar free.

also this. Acquire a copy of Hiren's Boot Disk, it can be made on a USB stick. Use Parted Magic to view your files, there should be some sort of data recovery suite on that boot disk. It is essentially an oh-shit-I-Fucked-up tool that can save your shit, did it many times.

Just use photorec. Exists on both Windows and Linux.

Could also be the camera that did "shit like this".

> Hiren's Boot Disk
I prefer SystemRescueCD myself. Reason being that Hiren's is more of a collection of dozens of individually bootable, mostly DOS-based tools.

Doing it all in a single more competent Linux environment is usually easier.

You kinda could just run photorec and/or do a dd/ddrescue disk dump first and then try to mount or at least set the dirty bit on the filesystem (to then have better chances to get Windows to run chkdsk /f).

I recently discovered photorec has been shuffled into a different package, so:
sudo apt install testdisk
for photorec

Maybe so, but the fact that you still think inside the windows box and assume the best software isn't free... negates most of your tech credibility.

>>2947499
Photorec will recover deleted files.
dd or ddrescue will enable copying all sectors off the SD card, but if photorec didn't already recognise them as TIFFs then you are going to have a hell of a time repairing any data you recover with dd or ddrescue.
If the card isn't recognised by numerous forms of card reade rand your camera, then most of the time the cards internal controller chip has died. In which case: Cunt's fucked.

FS is one of the few pieces of software I actually paid for. You can find comparable ones for free though, and most of the free ones run in a Linux environment

Yeah, I realised it was a little harsh after I hit post.
/p/ made me do it

I have past traumas due to incompetent windows lol-pro retards.... evidently it still haunts me and I lash out.
