AGFA ePhoto Smile. Just under $100 on sale. Photos were shitty, and it wasn't even compatible with my Macintosh ... I would import photos by running its video cable to my capture card. But the idea that I was freeing myself from film was awesome.
And all these years later I'm now buying up film cameras.
Parents' first digital here. I was old enough to use it, but not old enough to be trusted with it, if that makes sense.
It'd run out of battery or fill its tiny memory card in less shots than film sometimes, lol.

Derp, meant to say "than a roll of film." Been drinking.
This was my personal first digital. It was alright for the era. I took it to Italy in '04 or '05 and got some nice shots with it, god only knows where they are now.
Pic related, Minolta Memory Maker. Don't exactly remember when it was, but it was a Christmas present from my dad somewhere in the early 90's. Recently I found some of the negatives that I shot as a kid and scanned them, all that sweet nostalgia.

To add, it was a very basic camera, fixed focus with manual film advancing in an all plastic body. I remember using it all the way to the early 2000's, then it disappeared. I'm somewhat tempted to grab a new one since they cost pretty much nothing.

Man, this. Nearly all my photos from the 00's are long gone. I have entire years without a single photo of them left anywhere to be found, and when I've talked to people I've found it's a common thing. During the era of early digital cameras there weren't many ways to store them online and a lot of those services have closed, meanwhile people have changed computers without proper backups, or backups have become corrupted, HDDs have suddenly failed, and cards and thumb drives have gone missing. I think the 00's will end up a black hole of a decade as far as photographs go. And maybe even now - it seems that people generally don't bother making backups of their digital content and now rely on online services more than ever.
As opposed to the film age, everyone I know has a huge box of family snapshit negatives starting from god knows when. I could go to an estate sale and pick up a gym bag full of negatives which contain photographic documentation of that family's antics going back several decades - hell, estate hawks often try to get me to buy them off their haul because to them it's just junk. I really wish I had the time to scan through them, but maybe that's something to consider for retirement. With digital there isn't anything like it, computers get reused and reformatted and every digital photo on them is wiped out for good. Film has made sure that physical backup always remains without the user's personal effort, as long as they didn't throw the negatives away.

I remember always being impressed by the b&w jpegs this thing produced. So much so that with some basic VSCO app processing and a little grain, I've uploaded old images to insta/facebook and faked that they were taken on an old film camera :^)
Can't remember the name of my first digital, it was a basic compact camera my mom gave me.
My second one was a Sony DSC-P52 my dad gave me when i was 11 since i wasn't using it. For a young kid as me it was a very good camera.
After that i got a Kodak Easyshare Z5010, and now i have a Canon T5.
Someday i'll buy a DSC-P52 again, to experiment with it(like taking pics again at the same place i took them years ago.)

Here's a pic i took with it back in 2011. Can't believe it's been 5 years since i went to the Insectarium/Botanical Garden. I should go back there before it closes for winter.
