It certainly feels like that, as well as a feeling of despair much like a Gregory Crewdson photo.

I also think that the dust, scratches and lack of care of the film really help reinforce those tones, kinda like a physical metaphor of the grittiness of the city...

Definitely Fallen angels

These are pretty cool. The narrow field of vision and slight blur makes it feel like walking through HK drunk. Disassociated and unconnected from everything that's happening around you.

It's a cool perspective. I think if you 'knew what you were doing' (that is, had a technical knowledge of composition and exposure etc) these would be worse. You've got a natural eye for scenes that isn't hindered by the rules of photography, which is rad.

How'd you achieve the softness and flaring?

Amazing photos. Living in HK since one year and your photos capture the feel and spirit of the city spot on and you chose great motives. Like the first batch more, before the macau bungee ones.
