You shouldve used a tripod. over exposed the highlights with about 1 stop, Used iso 200, 8.0 aperture, and pulled up the shadows in post.

Exposure bracketing wouldnt have solved the motion blur from shooting at 1/14.
You could maybe have used 1.8 aperture and then focus stacked, but that wouldve been wayy to much hassle for that photo.

Use a tripod and you'll maybe spend more time getting your shots better framed too.

I didn't have a tripod with me. I could easily have shot it at 1/60, but I was in aperture mode and wasn't really thinking about it too much.

And for that photo with the child, I sorta thought it was cute how he was perfectly still, trying to read a childrens´ book to a child who is clearly not interested in listening. Fair criticism though.
