You can take a look at the 70-200/2.8 Tamron or Sigma, both are sharp and good quality. Also the Tamron 24-70/2.8, and Sigma 17-50 (in case of crop body) are both excellent lenses for a fraction of the L tax.

you're better off just switching to nikon

I got my 70 200 f4 L for £200, they're not expensive.

I don't shoot on canon, so bumping the iso is not a concern.
F2.8 zooms are a meme, double the weight, triple the cost, less sharp wide open, ugly bokeh stopped down.

Burned. You should've taken his picture in that reply, that would've been a bigger laughter.

Buy prime lenses from Canon or Sigma.

I have a sigma mc11 and it's done a great job so far, not quite native speed but fast enough on my 70 200 to do weddings and such. No good if you need af-c
What does /p/ think of the Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95
>>2930313
Meme
>>2930322
What makes it a meme?
>>2930382
It is a lens with immense light gathering abilities but it's sharpness is lacking even stopped down to f/4 compared to regular f/2.8 lenses wide open, yet /p/ is masturbating over it because it's f-number is smaller than 1.
Short answer: gearfags.
>>2930686
>immense light gathering abilities
Not even that: same as f/1.9 on full frame.
>>2930313
heavy, expensive, not very sharp
only real use is video
>>2930692
wait, it's not a FF lens? LET ME LAUGH EVEN HARDER! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
>>2925112
Tamaron makes some good lenses, not quite as good as the L series but they're definitely good.

Most Olympus or Panasonic M4/3 lenses.
>>2931504
Only the pro series, and some consumer primes.
Consumer zooms aren't particularly impressive.
>>2931508
Eh, IMO they're pretty spiffy considering they are consumer zooms. So while I would probably not call them impressive, I find some of them are surprisingly good for the money.
>>2931508
The PRO series gives you ultra sharp results for around half or less the price of the Canon L equivalent. Their consumer primes give you better or matching performance of Canon's L lenses (sparing aperture) at around $300-700, comapred to $1500+ for Canon.
