hey /p/eople, i was looking for some advice on where to find good general info for good photography, i.e. photography for dummies or something along those lines. I picked up a Canon Rebel t6i as a starter camera. Was this a good choice?

pic related its the camera

I started on a rebel, it's fine
more important to actually go take pictures anyhow.

Go shoot on auto mode
eventually you'll get the hang of it
worry about exposure after that.

Nice light hearted but solid info and tips. Some people can stand them but hey I really like the Professional with a cheap camera episodes, really lets you see how a pro works.

Go check out your local library. I live in the US and have a really good library nearby, and when I recently got into photography I checked out that section in nonfiction. They have a shitload of good books. See what books your library has, flip through a few, and find one you think would be good. I started with a few books that were designed to accompany college photography courses.

Currently I'm reading "Mastering Photographic Composition, Creativity, and Personal Style" by Alain Briot. It's about landscape photography, but his insights into light, color, and composition are excellent.

an old film camera SLR manual generally have good info on how exposure works.

If you're into books, read understanding exposure, it's pretty great
