Shooting at higher ISO does increase surface current, but it's not a real issue unless the sensor starts overheating, and even then it will primarily reduce image quality before actually becoming damaged.
If this camera has live view, keeping it turned on at a high ISO is a sure way to get it toasty, or just shooting a lot of frames non-stop. Honestly I've never seen anyone ever write about a sensor damaged from overheating, even by those who shoot video.

Most cameras will detect overheating as well and shut down themselves. Used a 7D extensively in all sorts of conditions for 3 weeks during a film-shoot a couple of years ago, had no problems except getting a warning after shooting in the sun for hours.

This is the film GR1. The series (GR1, GR1s, GR1v) was all fairly similar, but I'd probably spring for the GR1v given that it would be at least five years newer. It also has snap focus.

I owned a GR1v for a while but preferred my XA. Manual frame advancement is important when you need to be discreet.

Man I'd be hesitant to pick up that beat looking GR1. I'd recommend saving/waiting for a better deal on a newer model. Either that, or if you can sacrifice AF, pick up one of the XA line. There are some zone focus models (XA2, XA3?) that are easy enough to use.

I borrow the painfully expensive flextight t1 that my school has for the art program which hasn't been serviced in a decade. It still does good scans, but it takes forever which is why I'm trying to use my digital GR more often.

I got rid of my dslr a while back, and I was never really happy with my dslr scans, too hit or miss. I think that scan looks pretty good, just take out some of the dust and you're gold.
