I am going to Paris, for a few days, this fall.
What photo galleries should I give a try?

Is it free to visit?
Never heard of it, might give it a try

Yes, this is their exhibition space not their paris hq (which would be off limits to strangers, i suppose).

the one that does not get shot at.
Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson. Their collection of his own work is obviously very good but pretty small, but when I was there their exhibits of other photographers were good too. Also if you're lucky they will have the top floor open which has some of HCB's sketches which he made after he retired from photography, they don't have that open all the time though.
Centre pompidou, their photo collection is great.
They have a photography museum, check that one out
Check out the temporary exhibitions at:
Le Grand Palais
Musée du Jeu de Paume
Maison Européenne de la Photographie
Le Bal
Maison de la photographie Robert-Doisneau
