I have a large collection of old game guides and art books that people have shown interest in seeing. The picture I have up was taken by my phone as an experiment (the lighting setup needs work), but I can't help but feel the quality is lacking.
Could anyone recommend a good camera (dslr?) for a beginner whose focus will mainly be on photgraphing books? Is it worth upgrading for this?

google how they scan in books and manga. There are guides online that show you how to build a rig on the cheap, some using cellphones as the camera.

Go to your local university library, they're bound to have a nice scanner or two. They might even have a non-contact planetary which is baby easy to use.
