What do you tend to listen to while you edit. Does the particular shot dictate the genre or is it something you dont even think about?
I tend to put on pretty mellow music
>Tycho
>Boards of Canada
>Tim Hecker
>Loscil
>Emancipator
Sometimes I do a complete 180 though
>In Flames
>August Burns Red
>Electric Wizard
So no, the particular shot doesn't dictate the genre. More what my general mood is.

Lately I have developed an addiction to the youtube covers posted by Tim Purcell. His band, with three high school girls also singing a curious mix of cover songs - The GoGos, Paramore, Sara Bareilles, Jackson Brown, CSNY, etc. Awesome audio editing considering they are basically playing live in a parking lot or a restaurant. Give their Suite: Judy Blues Eyes and Black Water a good listen or just start with the first vid and let them all play. The chicks are cute as hell too.
Otherwise I have a youtube playlist with piano covers.
Queen - Bicycle Race
Queen - I Want to Break Free
Queen - Don't stop me now
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust

Stuff like Radiohead, Swans, Joanna Newsom, Earth, Steve Reich etc.
I've been on a sludge trip lately, mostly old swing jazz before that (I don't really listen to it properly though, admittedly it's a fun + friendly background)

Pro-tip: Brian Eno did the log-on sound for Windows 95. Always liked his work.

Solid choices. If you like Clams your probably enjoy Blue Sky Black Death.
Give Irepress a listen too. Similar ish to Russian circles.

Music and anything are pretty much related. That's why it's so popular.
I actually watch twitch streams while editing. I even got my colleagues to do it too. It's pretty fun seeing streamers getting high kill streaks and just motivates me to keep on grinding.

I don't understand how people enjoy that. Watching others play video games is one of the most boring things in the world.

I dunno, it's almost as though some people enjoy different things to you??
