Hi guys there's an event on my city where there's a lot of boat coming from different country and lots of tourism aswell. I've tried to take some shot but i really need some C/C. Those shots are from today and i already feel like i do not get the benefit of this event because of my lack of skill. Thanks for the crits man, i'm still strugling to find a descend workflow, for thoses shot i've been using the automatic zooming for manual focus on my a6000, it was kinda disturbing i might try to find another method to get sharp image that also allows me to concentrate on composition.

Oh and this flying horse is an helium baloon, was kinda lucky to get him on the shot :)
However I'm glad to see that my pictures please you guys.

Just stick with the 18-55 until you are more familiar with your camera. You will find out after a while what lenses you want to use for your photography. You are doing very well.

With all yours positives opinions i kinda feel like an impostor haha, for example on editing i haven't done a lot, i just charged some vsco preset and jiggle arround until the result please me. There's only on the tones and complementary colors that i really thought.
What do you guys recommend when i comes to understanding editing ? I was listening to the eric kim videos on lightroom while editing, it was interesting but i want to go further.

these could be very interesting, but there is a tighter crop somewhere in there that would work better...

the rest are kind of dull, but as a photographic series, most of them are necessary. maybe 3 or 4 of the photos that are least related to the others could be trimmed out to make it better as a whole, especially the one in B&W (silly)

you don't always have to make the final decision on composition in the camera. sometimes it suits people better to take 200 shots and then narrow it down, do cropping etc, afterwards to make a coherent piece of art. you are making as much of a decision on composition when you post the image or crop it as you are when you take it

if you work that way, eventually, you will intuitively get better at composition and be able to spot good ones without thinking. then you will only take 100 or 50 shots and narrow it down from there. it just depends on your personal style

Why don't you keep the same aspect ratio? Considering these as a whole, the ones with weird ratios imply that you cropped using any compositional aid overlay.

sure, you can set the aspect ratio at the crop too in lightroom.

Have you tried to boost the shadows in Lightroom?

Friendly suggestion: set ISO to 100; zero brightness; leave white balance on auto; set to RAW format; creative style=standard; exposure compensation = 0.0.
This month shoot in A (Aperture Priority) mode. All you have to do is learn to control your camera's aperture, which isn't difficult, and the camera will automatically set the shutter speed for you. You'll get much better images and have more fun.

Yeah i'm shooting raw, i haven't played a lot with shadows in lightroom for my first shots, i just discovered it recently haha

Yeah i just know that i should stick to iso 100 but sometimes i just look at my screen and jiggle arround with da button without thinking untill it please me. What a bad habit i guess haha
I'm lacking of theoretical knowlegde, i must read some stuff do you have anything to suggest ?

this is a really good lens for your camera that will give you a full frame equivalent of 18mm.
If you want another lens, I'd encourage you to start with this prime. Note: it won't communicate with your camera so you'll have to set the focus manually.
Research it first, I've seen great results from A6000 and this lens plus a couple of speedlites

i've seen some result and yeah the lense seems interesting, i didn't told it on the thread but my main purpose on photography was products photos as i'm willing to do some product design studies.
But i discovered that i really enjoyed doing some street photo/portrait i might get a tripod firstly, want to try some long exposure shot.
Does the Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN would be nice for what i'm willing to do ? (product shot/street/portrait) Do you have something else to recommend on that price range ?
