Yeah I'd say it's pretty much fucked at this point. Like anon below said, the fact that the sensor has been hard at work I can guarantee it's over heated, and keeping it in a bag has only made it worse by containing all that heat.

Don't even send it to Nikon, just carefully place the entire camera bag in an airtight plastic bag and throw it away. Be careful not to breathe in any dust while you do it.

The sensor has absorbed a lot of radiation from being on for a whole week and all the lithium ions probably leaked out of the battery too, it's too dangerous to be worth trying to fix the camera.

If so it should be fine
If not, then your sensor likely started producing gamma radiation and your bag and house are likely contaminated, you should grab a geiger counter and test your camera for radioactivity

I actually had to have my house treated for radiation a year or so ago because if exactly this. I set up 3 cameras to take longer exposure timelapses of my cats, and after 3 weeks the radiation was deemed hazardous for humans. Had to move in with my aunt for a month while the house was decontaminated. Now the cats have weird growths as well.
