then you need to nail the verticals.
tilting your camera makes the image concave, giving the appearance that the structure is caving in on itself or toppling over. That's tremendously offensive and insulting to the architects who designed the structure and the tradesmen who erected it to be plumb and true.

while I kinda like the towering looks on the church shot, I have to agree that for shots like pic related things look a lot cleaner straightened, next time I'll actually not be a lazy-ass and straighten these kinda shots to see how they would turn out before I post, thanks for the input guys!

I had to crop in quite a bit with this one as I used an ultra wide angle so the edges of the frame were filled with other stuffs, and it was a bit shaky too but I still like this one a lot as it feels dynamic, and the colours are kinda pleasing to the eye

my favourite from today and also one of the more powerful images I've taken as this one came with quite a story:
I was on my way home while I passed by this guy who was genuflecting in from of the traffic police department and it was raining too, so I found a place to park my bike nearby and ran out to the guy as it was raining the heaviest. apparently he was a taxi driver who got his vehicle confiscated by the police and he was very upset about it, claiming that the police did the wrong thing and that the rule didn't make sense. I didn't really know who was wrong and who was right but it just saddens me how nobody came to his aid or give him shelter from the rain until after I came to help him. the police officers kept going in and out of the building without batting an eyelid, people were making a crowd on the other side of the road - some talked about how sorry they felt for the guy, some whispered to others about how the police are scumbags and shit yet they all just stood there without doing anything. it took quite a while after the rain clears up that I finally got the police to go out and "drag" him in to settle things. I left shortly after so I didn't know how things went, but I'm glad I came to the guy and called out to the police, or else who knows how long he'd been left there.

had the idea of doing a long exposure in the middle of the overpass but it ended up being an epic fail as those street lamps flared the shit out of my pics, managed to take this one though.

woah slow down guys, please keep the fighting to a minimum. for the cathedral shot I honestly had no intention of perspective correcting so I pointed my camera upwards like that, resulting in the distortion.
for some of my other architecture shots though, like the apartment buildings set I did step back as far as I could (believe me when I say this, those buildings were situated in little alleys so I literally had my back against the wall while shooting those) and tried to keep the camera as close to vertical as possible while still enveloping the whole building in the image, all for an easier time correcting them in post. oh and I used the samyang 12f2 which is like one of the widest lenses for fuji too.

all of the images in this thread were shot in RAW except for the long exposure ones (because fuji can't into RAW at base ISO 100), I edit in LR using my custom preset: bump up contrast and a bit of clarity and desaturation, lift shadows and dim highlights for an expanded dynamic range, than apply a curve that sort of gives it a bit of "fade" (lifted blacks) and some other minor stuffs. also some of these had split-toning for cooler shadows which has become a permanent thing for my preset now.
//I've been working more on the overpass long exposure idea for the last 2 days but the images keeps turning out looking like ass, partly due to the flare, and that it's too bright up there for anything longer than 15 secs. maybe it's time to think about getting an ND filter. also next time I'll bring the zoom lens and try shooting narrower.

the exif shows f1.0 because I'm using the samyang 12 f2 which is manual focus and doesn't have electrical connections. and I have a habit of shooting underexposed so I usually have EV set at minus 2/3 or 1 stop (shooting in aperture priority)

went on a hell of a trip yesterday, 12 hours biking/walking through villages in the scorching sun. my skin is like a whole stop darker now.
didn't fuck up the exposure this time, but shooting with a film camera still doesn't "feel like home" yet to me, it's like I've been too reliant on using the LCD screen to compose, and the fixed low ISO is very restricting too. also somehow it feels like I'm always pressing the shutter button a bit late. gonna have to shoot even more film to eventually improve on this, gosh.

I think the amount of detail in the environment (wires / cage / ground) gets ruined by the blurry person in the middle. would've looked a bit more cohesive if they were frozen and sharp.

I always have this compact benro tripod in the trunk of my motorbike, so I just take it out when I need to shoot at night or in low light. I've had a lot of experience shooting really really close up with people on the street it feels kinda normal for me. for the overpass long exposure shots >>2879730 though I spent like an hour and a half there in the middle of traffic everytime. the fast vehicles, the horns, and the people swearing at me asking if I'm out of my fucking mind - now that's something else.
