There's some dirt on the lens top right that's really obvious because it's sitting on clear sky.

The ladies head is cutting the horizon and her shadow is distracting me a little otherwise it's a solid comp and the exposure is spot on.

I think you haven't focused on the most interesting part of the image here and have included the whole door for no real reason.

Cropping doesn't seem to fix it, the real contrast here for me is between the outside world and the tatty interior but you're just a little bit too far back so the outside gets drown out by all of the interior.

Also the door frame on the right is dragging my eye out of the frame

The concept is solid otherwise, maybe a wider shot would have worked better. The ratio of the image nearly matches the door perfectly which makes me fixate again on the door not on the contrast you're trying to show

I don't understand cropping or composition much, but this is how I think as an average person:
-The full images let's me see more, normally this is what one would prefer, no?
-The crop lets me see less, normally I only want to see less if the other stuff is ugly or doesn't fit it. It seems like a "no fun allowed" type of attitude.

So maybe it's because the Cats would have been higher resolution if he had used a longer focal length?

I'd say give a little more contrast in your photos and either crop closer or get closer. Other than that, these are beautiful photos and you'll have much better ones if you make those little adjustments :)

It sounds like a shitty excuse, but my laptop displays the pictures way to bright, especially the darks. The vignette looks ways more subtile on it, now looking at it at home I fully agree that it is way overdone. Same reason is the oversaturation of the lighthouse, as >>2870694

I agree, the wall is distracting, I couldnt get wider, because behind me was a wall and there was not much room at all, the door leads just in a very narrow corridor.

I think I'll give it another pp session, once I've got a decent calibrated monitor. Its on my list anyway and I'm always a bit annoyed of my pp when I compare the result on other sceens.
