These are tintypes, which you'd know from pic related. you don't need to mount the plates in a camera to expose them. Can all be done with slides and an enlarger in the darkroom.

most tintype wet plate cameras are 300-1000 dollars from what I've seen. Not cheap. But way less expensive than an actual modern day camera

The slides themselves are 39 dollars for a pack. I don't know how much the chemicals cost. But I don't have a dark room
