Times Square? Yeah it's alright... Certainly recognizable and fairly iconic, though very touristy.
The highlights in the sky in the background aren't important to the shot at all. There's no detail to be had in the sky that would improve the shot, and the overall lack of detail and contrast in the actual subject matters a lot more than ticking a box on a checklist of technical crap you got from someone who doesn't know what makes a good photo.
