After a pretty bad injury I recieved while I was out in New York City on a photo trip, I've hardly been able to get out and do any landscape photos, because my ability to walk has been pretty hindered. And because much of my photography is done by myself, I've been afraid to go on a lengthy hike out of the fear my injury will flare up again, and I'll be stranded in an area without cell reception.

So last night I went on my first hike again. It was my first time visiting this small park in the hills of San Diego, so it was also a scouting session for further trips out there. I've only got a few photos because I'm pretty picky.

I'm basically just looking to see which one of these 4-5 photos is your favorite, and just looking for some constructive criticism. And if you could keep it objective with your criticism that would be great. I really just want to figure out which would be best to post on my Instagram.

I had a feeling that they weren't going to get much better than your excellent first picture, and I was right.
>>
>>2827033
Yeah, why not post the best pic first? It's hard getting back into it. I've hardly taken a picture since last November.
>>
>>2827027
What happened OP? First one is king btw, close second is cow enjoying her meal.
>>
>>2827038
You post your second best photo first, so there's a reason to look at the thread. If you post a great photo, and then eight garbage ones, people just feel like they wasted their time.
>>
>>2827027
These are bland as shit, bro.
Number 2 is ok ish, but these days I can't even look at 3:2 pics in portrait orientation without wanting to crop the shit out of them.
>>
I like the colour ones. But would crop a bit of the sky of the second one.

I was in New York, and long story short I longboarded 13 miles to get a sunrise photo, and walked 15 miles in the afternoon, and basically damaged my testicles from too much physical activity. I had to take an emergency flight home the next morning because I thought I had a hernia. I didn't walk hardly at all for like 2 months after that.

>>2827145
Makes sense, didn't think about it from the point of view of people feeling like they got cheated. I Genuinely wasn't sure which one people would like the most

Here are some of the photos I took while in New York when I got injured.

Dude what? Is it really possible to damage your balls from moving around? I know it's painful and I feel bad but this is funny as hell. You really cracked me up.

Dude I don't know. One additional detail was that I injured my foot several days before that from running 6 miles, so I had a bad limp before I went to NYC, so I was walking really far and walking funny because of the foot thing. Later that night, I walked from my hotel to a wendys across the street, and when I started walking back it felt like I was getting kicked in the balls every step I took. It was very painful.

Man that sucks. Hope you're recovered...
>>
>>2827165
Start wearing jocks, you fucking degenerate.
I think it's pretty common to irritate the vas deferens if you put too much strain on it.
>cradle your junk like the precious gift it is
>>
>>2827166
Sort of recovered. My balls still hurt every once in a while. It's really a pain in the ass because I'm a really active person, and like being outside. I'm considering getting my right testicle removed. I'm mostly afraid of hiking out somewhere and hurt my balls again and have to limp for miles back to my car, getting ball-kicking pain the whole way.
>>
>>2827170
I figured wearing tight fitting underwear would be good enough. I've never worn boxers, so sloshing around shouldn't have been a problem in my eye. but obviously I need to really pack those things in.
>>
>>2827027
What happened to you in NYC? Also for some reason I feel the quality of these like the technical quality of these photos is pretty bad for something like the A7R, maybe the bad jpeg compression. For the artistic quality I think they are generic and lacking of a concrete idea. The first one is the best executed one but I think the second is the most interesting.
>>
>>2827152
>damaged my testicles from too much physical activity
I know how this feels. I never got an injury but I walk around NYC a lot and sometimes this can happen, especially when I rollerblade. It happens to me when I wear boxers and uncomfortable pants like jeans. Hope it was worth it.

>>2827152
And yeah it's just the compression. I down sized them through ACR, which was a bad choice, I'll never use that again. They're honestly really sharp. Here's a version using a special action I have saved, instead of the shitty compression

the IQ is a little weird
it's like its been heavily sharp/contrast/saturated or something.
Also: jpeg88 quality - decent filesize : IQ ratio

It does look worse on here than it doesn on my screen, because my screen is 2880x1800. But it still does look odd. It could be just the slightest bit of shutter shock. This was taken on a tripod, with a 400mm lens, at 1/200. Maybe the shutter speed should've been higher? That cow was about a half mile away from me, so it could even be the air turbulence fucking it up, which does have serious problems at that distance. That's actually probably the problem. Check out the screenshot of dead center. All sorts of fucked up distortions
>>

this first one I think is really beautiful.
I hope you get well

Thank you, I appreciate it. I went on a few hikes this week, and haven't had any pain yet. So I'm going to keep going further and further.
