For his photos? No. For his ability to work a model and a room, and his boldness in getting the photos he wants, Absolutely.
Dude is also shredded for being 51.

>his ability to work a model ... and his boldness in getting the photos he wants

Couldn't have said it better myself

>Does this man represent a role model for you, /p/?
>The world's most famous dirty old man

What's his story? Why the fuck should a famous woman decide to go naked for this faggot for a bunch of shitty looking photos of her looking like a crackwhore?
>>2800804
>What's his story?
the story is that /pol/ is always right.
>>2800804
Because he's very good at what he does.
>>2800804
because he had connections:
>Richardson was born in New York City, the son of Norma Kessler, an actress, and Bob Richardson, a fashion photographer who struggled with schizophrenia and drug abuse. Following the divorce of his parents, Richardson moved to Woodstock, New York, with his mother and step-father, Jackie Lomax.

And connections help you to motivate an internationally famous actor or singer to get naked in front of your camera how? Jeb Bush has connections. Tom Hanks's kids have connections. Connections are a tool like anything else, and without the drive and talent to do something with them, they're meaningless. Stop discounting talent out of jealousy. It won't help your craft even a little bit.

So tell me again whats preventing you from having an internationally famous actor or singer to get naked in front of your camera.
>>2800873
My absolute lack of drive, talent, lighting knowledge, people skills, and creativity, and therefore my lacking portfolio and clout. Just like the rest of us.
>>2800873
He doesn't have access to them. He lacks the right connections

Most people see a ladder as raising yourself up higher and higher. Some sad people see a ladder as pulling rungs down and lowering the whole ladder while they stay the same.
You'll never be able to convince these people that mentally pulling down talented people by dismissing their achievements will not make their work any better, or any more well received.
I do like his portraits a lot, it's the style I like personally too but he does it so much better obviously. I'm also generally inspired with how he didn't want to be a photographer originally and he had his break when he was about 30, I always think those backgrounds are more interesting than people who picked up something as a teen and then "naturally" went on to do it professionally after graduating/dropping out of college.

Nor will hero-worshipping a gonzo pornographers mediocre abilities
>>2800891
Oh and I was gonna say, I do think Nobuyoshi Araki does the similar "erotic" portrait photography much more artfully and to me, better. And Aizawa Yoshikazu is also very good.
>>2800896
How are his abilities mediocre? Before answering, remember that operating a complex camera and using complicated light aren't the marks of a great photography by any means, and that this is especially true of portrait photography.
>>2800901
> remember that operating a complex camera and using complicated light aren't the marks of a great photography
This is of course true but Richardson is a one trick pony, put them on a white background and make them look like trollops.
>>2800952
You mean that he has a recognizable marketable style? Generally not considered to be a bad thing. Also, the stuff you recognize as being his "one trick pony" isn't where he gets any of his money, that's just what he does for fun. He does tons of major campaigns as well, that don't look anything like a white wall with a compact.

Photography isn't where he gets his money at all. He's cited as being the highest paid photographer of 2015, but most of that money came from other sources.
>The American photographer has an estimated net worth of $185 million. He owes his fortune to smart stock investments, substantial property holdings, lucrative endorsement deals with CoverGirl cosmetics. He also owns several restaurants (the “Fat Richardson Burger” chain) in Washington, a Football Team (the “New York Angels”), has launched his own brand of Vodka (Pure Wonderichardson - US), and is tackling the juniors market with a top-selling perfume (With Love from Terry) and a fashion line called “Terry Richardson Seduction”.

He does do major shoots, but not as much as the title "highest paid photographer" would suggest.
backlash got him? his output seems to have slowed considerably, still has mag commissions here and there
>>2800962
How do you think he got the money to make smart investments? Do you think he plays the stocks himself, or had the initial parental help to seed huge funds and hire great brokers? My bet would be on the latter.
>>2801048
I would also assume that he got a lot of startup help in terms of investments and stocks. But that's unrelated to his photography.
