I just recently bought a fed 3 and now i'm trying to decide on which 35mm film to use. What was the first brand/type of film you shot on? Would you recommend it?

Check this out OP. On the left side are more links to posts that have photos from different films, but check the captions to the photos because multiple films are in some posts.

I tried this and I think I'm gonna go with the Kodak gold 200.
>>
Portra 400 is damn near magical. Check out the results of it being pushed to 3200.

Fuji

For first experiments I'd really recommend a cheap c41 film like Kodak Colorplus 200 or Fuji Superia 200. Pointless to waste expensive film on learning.
Pic related, Colorplus200 on my FED5 Industar-61, borderline underexposed.

Also, you make too many threads for your measly leica knockoff, mate. Could've used the /film/ thread.

My apologies, then, thought you were >>2761018 , suddenly a few people get the exact same camera, apparently. Enjoy your cool rangefinder and remember to only set shutter speeds after you've cocked/wound it, unless you want an odd paperweight. The viewfinder doesn't encompass the entire 50mm fov and there's a huge parallax when shooting min distance stuff. Like 35-40% off.

Thank you for the advice!

Maybe you should lurk a little more, tripfriend.

wow awesome post relevant to the thread subject anon!

I overdid it a bit on the parallax error but I feel I can't stress this enough - you'll be tempted to focus closer to get as much bokeh as the 2.8 or 3.5 prime you have'll squeeze out - and if you frame your shot via the rangefinder/viewfinder window, nah, it'll suck.

I made this mistake once so noone would have to ever again - the statue, symmetrical, was smack in the middle of the framed shot. This is the 52mm Industar-61 wide open @2.8 , minimal focus distance. So the worst possible parallax error you can get. Also that curved line above it - that's straight in reality. Industar barrel distortion, baby, say goodbye to straight lines.

Tri-X 400

Awesome exposure latitude was my film of choice in my old FED-2

Post your negatives when you develop them, always loved images shot on Russki glass

but something cheap and fast your first time. Ultramax 400 looks pretty warm and nice but it's cheap as chips
>>
How's that camera of yours doing, OP?
>>
