It always kind of bums me out when someone's hoop dreams are so transparent and (probably) shallow.

Go assist a working photographer. No grouchy ass retired photographer is going to want to be your senpai (not a wordfilter), and it's not like there's a phone book full of them that you can just look up. It's relatively easy to find working photographers, however, and a few of them would probably be ecstatic to have an eager little slave lug all of their stuff around for morsels of knowledge.

I cleared 150k in 2015 solely from photography and my photographs are only good/relevant for an extremely short amount of time.

Not at all, I make a great living by networking and that is it, the photography itself requires almost no skill.

Your response indicates that good photographers are just working photographers which indicates you are the eager little slave putting hacks like me on a pedestal.
