so this is my camera. it isn't waterproof.

but I'd still like to take it out in the rain.

any recommendations other than purchasing an expensive water proof case? cheap tricks? if not, no worries.

Just take it out in the rain. You'll be fine. once you come back in, let it dry out really well before putting it away.

How about a cheap water proof camera bag? They cost $5-15 or something and work fine.

there's a chance that some water will get inside and short the fuck out of something though, which is pretty much curtains

I've used freezer bags before, with a hole for the lens in one end, held in place by wedging it in between the hood/filter and lens

Get a Pentax. Best option and you will have some spare cash for lenses.

took my d3200 out in the rain many times. not a problem. these cameras are more water resistant than people would assume

T5i/1200d is a tank mate. I've done all sorts of horrible shit to mine and its still kicking.
