it's a nice portrait, very well focused, sharp, and his posing is lovely. a few things to consider: you don't want to clip his paw off the lower edge of the picture. either have the entire paw in there or crop so that it's not. the door frame (or whatever) directly behind his head is a little distracting. would be nice if this shot was recomposed such that's the frame is not there, or the black space is at least minimized. this will keep stronger emphasis on his face and remove distracting elements.

to me, strong focus is about where the focused element runs into a contrasting color. if only his head is in the shot, and his head is surrounded by wall, then i'm totally focused on his head. if his head is in the shot but then there's a blackish-looking thing next to it, then my eyes are treating cat+weird-out-of-focus-blackness as the portrait focus.

all of this said i really like the picture.

one other thing, depending on the mood you want to create, i might increase the exposure on this a bit. everything could be a little brighter to bring out the colors of the bedspread and desmond the cat. since his black stripes will still be black, this will increase the overall contrast of the picture, and make it look more dynamic and vivid.

I got a 3300 during the amazon prime day """"'sale"""". it was the only thing on the sale i was interested in. anyway, at the time i had a 3100 and it served its purpose but the sensor in the 3300 is much, much nicer. it handles iSO noise a LOT better. the "effects" option is needless to say, shit, but i guess if you want to take a really quick pano at least that option is useful.

its a nice starting camera. the lens sucks though, but thats what you get with a kit lens. it's all you need to start learning though. itll suit your needs for now until you find your style and the kind of lenses you'll want to look into in the future.
