Some old boxes of stuff had to get cleared out at work, so there was a strategic transfer of equipment to alternate locations, and now I have one of these neat little bivies. It doesn't have a rainfly, though.
What's the best way to set up, say, a USGI poncho as one on this thing?

Tarp as a rain fly?

Buy a tarp, just string it over and use your creativity to do it how you like it

Youll need rope.

Or you call the manufacturer and order a new rainfly.

That's a tent ya moron

Tent, bivy, same difference

Yeah, that's basically how I want to use my poncho, but I don't know which way would be best. There has to be something better than a basic lean-to, for example.
>>

Well if you already have a tent dude its just gotta cover the open spaces man its up to you how to do it

That shit is pretty cool. The fiber glass bendy frame shit might make it a little strange for packing, but good on you.

If you have time energy, stringing up the poncho would be the best- you'd not only have good ventilation but have some space to get into and out of your bivy and a place to store your pack and boots.

You could easily just drape the shit over it, but that might be hard to get into and out of considering the zipper is at the top. In any event if there's no bugs that bathtub floor with be excellent in combination with a tarp.

Good on you anon.

Maybe something like this?

What you posted is called an "improved bednet shelter" or "enhanced bednet system".

I don't remember the exact name or manufacturer, but it usually comes with a rainfly. You can probably buy one online.

I have one of these EBNS. Had it 7 years and apart from some burning ashes melting a hole in the fly when i put it too close to the fire once its worked a treat, hasnt become mouldy and i never dry it out after i get home etc.
i use it alot on a stretcher now - you need to tie the fly down around it and it can become drafty - not an issue when used on the ground because the fly pegs down to the correct flat level. I do find that the plastic screw in type pegs are shit. get some real pegs and a hammer.
