Fabric from the heel of my shoes typically gives way to a plastic that protrudes into my heel, hurting me.
How do I repair this?
Why does it happen to many of my shoes?
How do I prevent it?
Is there a name for this?

I used to have that problem all the time when I bought cheap shoes. I picked up a pair of Brooks Cascadia last year that are just now starting to wear out, definitely saved me money in the long run, and they're still pretty comfortable.

I have the same problem i dont have a solution but i think it happens because you step on that part of the shoe causing the plastic to bend

This
Loosen the laces enough when taking them off or putting them on so you don't stress that part of the shoe, or use a shoehorn
I had a similar issue, i got some soft leather insoles and havent had the issue since.
Theyll probabbly run you 20ish buckaroos but they make the shoes a little comfier as well imo.
A few layers of duct tape will repair it for a month. I had this same problem and kept mine going for a year.
Put your fucking shoes on properly, untie your damn laces.
