Every time I come across a bear on the trail I pull my camera out to try and get a good picture. Inevitably, when I start to approach, the bear will notice me and run off like a bitch.

I'll take the treat seriously when the majority of people realize that, every single time they drive on a public road, they are putting themselves in harms way to a greater extent that most anything else they do in their entire lives. Lightening is a much bigger concern. The more metal objects you carry, the more it heightens the risk of being struck, which is far more common than bear attacks. You should check with fish and game in Alaska, they'd greatly say other wise (Alaska likes to keep track of that sort of shit) Full grown grizzly and moose have been taken out with 9mm, 45. North Georgia is much better for /out/ stuff I think. Just driving across the state many time, further north in the state and you still get a bit of the Smokey Mountains and nice dense woods while still being within 90min of downtown ATL.
