Im going on a NOLS course in April.
65 days. Half in British Columbia doing sea kayaking.
half mountaineering in the northern Cascades of Washington State.
Any advice/tips on getting through the 65 days?
This is my first major outdoor trip. I've done small 2 day stays in the Poconos and Adirondacks at the most.

Tips: don't be stupid, don't freak out and don't cook inside your tent. You'll do fine.

There's going to be a lot of snow that early in the Cascades. Expect even longer approaches because of it.
Should be a lot of fun still, wish I could have done that.
Bring warm clothes and extra socks
From what i've been told of NOLS, lotta rich kids, lol. Beyond that it'll be lots of repetitive high intensity backpacking one day after the other. I've only met peeps who've gone to patagonia so im not sure how cascadia will compare. Currently in the adk myself. Ask and i'll see if i can remember anything specific. You should have a great time doe regardless, hardest part after a while will prolly be the people
NOLS is a weird mix of trustafarians and dirt bags. The dirt bags are generally the ones who take it more seriously and go on to become guides and outdoor educators, while the trustas mostly just looking for an adventure on their school break.
Then there's the occasional "mid life career shift" former professionals.
Everybody is usually really cool, though. I've met a lot of NOLS graduates and can honestly say the ones I considered assholes could be counted on one hand.
