Magnet fishing in rivers and lakes etc. People in Europe have good luck. Diy probably still has a thread on it. I love metal detector btw.

Mainly has to do with the huge amounts of UXO in Germany.

Germany and Belgium have the stupidest laws. Owning a scanning radio receiver is illegal for instance.

or buy a metal detector, take off the handle and stick, fix the coil into your shoe, run the cord up your pants leg, put the box in your pocket, and wear headphones.
walk around waving your foot mounted metal detector over the ground. Try not to look suspicious.
I like to wear a trenchcoat and read the newspaper while wandering around waving my foot over things. That's pretty normal looking in my part of the woods.

if you find something just haul out your folding shovel and dig it up. If anyone asks you just suddenly needed to take a shit and just happen to have a shovel in case.

I live in murrica. We have lots of cows here, so you have to watch where you step so you don't land in the cow shit.
