Who do you listen to?
What genres do you prefer?
John Denver is prob the best musician to listen to when /out/
https://youtu.be/fud-Lz76MHg
>>963824
>go /out/
>listening to artificial sounds
>ignoring the natural sounds around you
>>963831
>implying there's a scientifically possible thing called "aritificial sounds"
I bet you call lamps and lightbulbs "artificial light" too
>>963824
I listen to the outside
Listening to music constantly has been shown to inhibit learning
Headphones make you stupid and unsafe
>>963834
What are you, some kind of nerd?
>>963836
>Headphones make you stupid
nah
>and unsafe
yeah
>>963842
i guess so
>>963834
you know what he meant, you pedantic faggot.
and while i wouldn't have worded it the same, i agree. going /out/ with music is the same as going /out/ with your eyes closed, imo.
>>963846
i think it depends on the activity. if you're just laying back staring up through the trees for awhile or maybe just enjoying lazytime with a nice view some light music can be quite nice. i mean, if you're /out/ you really could just be drinking water and eating burries but sometimes a nice tea, coffee, cocoa, or broth is really soothing as well, even if you brought that shit from home.

>spend hundreds of dollars on premo field recording kit
>this is prime time to catch condor noises.
>hike for miles until suddenly in a tree you hear the faint garble of the condor.
>you are just about to hit record when all of a sudden in the distance you hear Genocide Organ's rendition of "White Power Forces"
thanks anon.
>>963844
>nah
Yes. Constant auditory stimulation has been shown to inhibit learning
Silence allows the brain to process and integrate information into long term storage
>>964069
Protip: Don't listen to music when you're trying to learn something.
>>964121
You need silence when you are not trying to learn something, so your brain can process what you were trying to learn
Even if you do not listen to music while studying, if you plug in to headphones after you are done, you will retain less
So it's not that headphones make you stupid, they prevent you from becoming smarter
>>964127
Raelly?
I'm an art student, I constantly listen to music while practising. I've never noticed it'd bring me trouble doing better. In fact it gets me going and things seems smoother.

I wouldn't worry about retaining knowledge, anon.
>>963824
For hanging out just fishing, hiking, etc, I have a "country" playlist, it's got a lot of John Denver and Johnny Cash, some Avett Brothers, and then just a few singles by various artists including Corb Lund, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Brooks & Dunn, and Garth Brooks.
At other times various types of classical music are /out/ appropriate.
Growing up my family had Bob Seger's Greatest Hits CD on the boat and everytime we were out on it (which was about 4 days a week minimum Apr-Sep) it would just play on a loop, so now I always associate rec boating, water-skiing, and wakeboarding, with Bob Seger.
>>963975
mount and blade
>>963824
Folk music, soundtracks that have this adventurous score like LOTR
Anything that gives off a nature vibe I guess

I personally prefer to just listen to nature.
However, a bit of music in the bothy is lovely; I would suggest some Sufjan Stevens
How do you find people to go out in the woods or mountains? Do you go alone?
Not many friends to go with

eh, photons is photons. the correct term would be either "light" or "electric light" if you were trying to specify
>>973365
Tuvan and Mongolian throat singing is absolute ascendant tier /out/ music.
I like that but I also like a little Mike Doughty or Stan Rogers if Im in the mood. But throat singing has spent centuries being refined by nature, really, since its so pivotal to the inspiration and expression of the art, that I dont know if you can top it.
>>973706
>listening to throat singing
>not throat singing yourself
>>963834
do you not?
>>963824
Code orange and knocked loose come to mind
>>973706
yes, these people spent millennia /out/ in the steppe, it's this music that really pushed me places
what are some of your favorite?
>>973713
whoa anon I hope you actually do
Pendulum and other drum and bass. Thanks Colin Haley for introducing me.
>>973713
Actually, in private I've been practicing off and on. But I dont do it near enough to be good.
>>974497
I like Okna Tsahan Zam a lot. He incorporates ambient sounds in to his tracks a lot. And of course Altai Kai and Huun Hur Tuu...Batzorig's solo videos on youtube were what introduced me to throat singing.
Mostly I just play a spotify playlist at work though so a lot of what I like I wind up missing what artist Im hearing.
>>964057
Different anon, but I kekd pretty good. Well greentexted.
Simple music like Hank, Waylon, or Ralph Stanley. Also I like listening to old string bands that sing camp fire songs like the 2nd South Carolina String Band or the Iron Mountain String Band.
