If you know anyone that has more experience inthewoods than you then try going out with them. If your on your own then get a copy of the S.A.S. Survival guide. It a good starting place for alot of things. I'm not sure if there is a book just for bushcraft that is the go to book, maybe someone else can suggest?
>>
>>961766
Its called being creative.

Go to woods. Look around. Decide what to do.

>I'm not sure if there is a book just for bushcraft that is the go to book, maybe someone else can suggest?

Bushcraft 101 is pretty solid, goes a little too in depth for somebody going out for their first time but there's nothing in there that isn't worth knowing.

Old U.S. Army Ranger Field Manuals have lots of trap, shelter and water gathering etc. Stuff in the escape and evasion chapters. Sniper manuals have good stuff too. The Special Forces Medical FM has lots of field expedient technologies also.

What country?

Watch YouTube videos. Sign up for a course with Ray Mears. Read books.

None of it means shit unless you put it all into practice so go /out/ and experience being freezing cold, hungry, thirsty, and uncomfortable.

Then figure out how to not be cold, hungry, thirsty and uncomfortable by using things that are available wherever you are.

On your computer in the basement. Watch all the youtube memes until you know kung fu and then go into your nearest woodland and hang yourself from a tree using the paracord you bought on amazon.

This book has a lot of good information.
>>
>>961766
How is bush crafting a skill? Just learn common sense and self relience. The rest should be just a matter of figuring it out on the fly.
>>
>>961766
boyscouts all jokes aside. Find a good troop and you'll be on some pretty great adventures. If you are 18+ then you are screwed! Just buy lots of fancy equipment and be a college camper or something until your inspiration from watching Into the Wild wears out. Then you can sell your fancy equipment to me on craigslist at cheap prices when you get desperate for rent/drug money.

Heh, you know how some people have a way of saying "hey guys I want to be really good at something but I'm not really all that interested in that something but in my perception of myself, so I'm not really going to put any effort into it and get frustrated at the first fail?

Which of his DVD series would be best to buy?
>>
>>969933
Not that anon but: Don't know about specific DVD-series but a lot of his stuff is on youtube. Apart from that it is my impression that his oldest stuff is more "survival"-themed where as his later series are more about telling stories of how native people live, the journeys of famous explores and ect.
>>
>>961766

Check out MCQbushcraft. He has a series going that every section, covers just that thing. So back packs, tarps, cooking shit, knives, axes, fire making etc.
