Anybody metal detect? Or treasure hunt in general (panning, dredging, etc)?

To get the discussion started: FUCK BOTTLE CAPS.

Head over to the feather river near Oroville CA for the flood gold. It's one of the richest deposits of gold and with the new floods uncovering bedrock there will be so much new gold.

Found these two half pennies earlier today. The field I detect in has only really turned up junk so far so these were a nice rarity. Found a penny from the 30s before.

Can't wait until I can buy a better coil desu

If you're gona watch YouTube check out Aquachigger. Pretty fun stuff, lots of civil war finds. He hunts Virginia and North Carolina from what I've gathered from his videos.

Seen a few of his vids. Prefer JD variety channel though lad.

>tfw just found something interesting about the area I detect

A garrett ace 250. They were about 4-5 inches down. Think I need to invest in a pinpointer. I was sifting through mud for the smaller coin

I started metal detecing around 2009. Since then nearly everything I found nearly everything that could be possible.
Got my oldest metal find back from the State Office. Its a bronze arrow head from the late Bronze Age, around 1050 b.c.

Only time I did was on the beach and I got a 3 pound or so triangular weight. I also periodically find a horseshoe or horseshoe nails on my property just by walking around. Nothing there then next day the horseshoe is laying there like someone just placed it.

I don't have any experience with a "good" pinpointer from the big detector manufacturers, but this Harbor Freight special hasn't let me down.

Really cool.

Jealous of you Euros. Finding a 1900 Wheat Penny is "old" for us here in the States.
>>
>>952746
nicely done.
I have a $40 generic pinpointer off ebay that does great. I don't dig in mud very often though.

I once found a pre-65' silver quarter and a silver chain, but nothing anything better than that.

Mostly pocket change and fucked up pennies.

Really if I ever get back into the hobby, I need some tip n tricks in finding stuff that actually has age.
Like, where do I go? Parks?
Do go into people's homes and ask, "Hey, can I dig through your shit?"

I've always had this idea of maybe going into my town's central downtown and detecting a old lot over there or something.

And yet at the same time I'll look at YT videos of detectors and think to myself, "What a fucking dork, lugging around all that gear for a fucking wheat penny..."
>>
anon extremely interested in this hobby, would one of those 80$ chink metal detectors get the job done? alternatively, what are some reccomendations?
>>
>>952983
I did metal detecting as a kid. Kept finding shitty Roman coins from 2000 years ago. You can buy a dozen for a pound on ebay. Got bored, never anything good.
>>
>>953568
Around 300$ gets you a good basic detector
>>
>>953601
fuck, i was hoping more in the 100-150$, can i get anything done with that budget?
>>
>>953603
You can get a use Ace 150 for around 100$ or a Ace 250 for 150$ if you lucky
>>
>>953634
is there a major difference between the two? also, does anyone have experience with magnet fishing, seems vaguely related.
