Thinking of building pic related in the mountains with just materials from innawoods... What can i use as the mortar to hold the rocks in place? I dont think there is any clay in these mountains but im honestly not sure
Also is there a primitive way to make smooth bricks out of rocks? I would think using a chisel would just shatter them completely
There's no mortar being used in either the fire ring nor the patio. Probably just rock dust/mud between the stones in the ground. Look carefully at the cobbles -- see how each one has at least one point of contact with every rock surrounding it? That's what you'll need to do to keep it all falling apart over time. It's actually harder than a motherfucker.
Seems like logs are a better solution for seating, but you could build a drystone wall to sit on if you had your heart set on it.
Just watch a few drystone masonry videos on youtube.
As for your last question, depends on the type of rock in your area. If it's granite, odds are good you can find a lot of nice slabs like in that pic.

Fuck me, careful where you strike a match in that area, anon.

Mud. Shit.

Plz don't build the fire pit, you seem to have 0 fire safety know how.
Also if you live in Colorado and cannot identify granite. You need to fuck off back to your state.

Nigga we just don't want our shit burned down.

But what did OP say that makes you think hes going to burn the forest down? Because he didn't know what granite was?
