Ski/Snowboard thread? What are you riding? What are you working on? Pic related is my local
>>943320
Been working on my traversing for a few years m8. Not real good but taking it slow.
I'm going out west to Park City and then Breckenridge for a couple days starting on Monday. Have only ridden ice coast hills, how not to ded?
>>943324
breck is amazing!! i went out there years ago
favorite runs have to be theses two dreams.

dude the west is so different than the east. im pretty shitty on the east coast but the snow is so much better tin the west that i could be just 100 times more confident.
the blacks are more "serious" but because the snow is so much better its easier in the end.
brek is pretty resorty so its hard to die if you stay on the main parts of the resort. im sure there are some back bowls that are absurdly hard but i never went there.

I can ski again after 8 years since I got a job in the Alps
Didn't take much time for me to be good again, I can only go during the afternoon unfortunalely. But the skis were free and the ski lifts are half the price

Staying here
>>943370
>>943338
Breh, those runs look amazing, I'm used to 40 seconds of 600 foot vertical that murders you if you get off your edge.
Any Bozemanfags here? I'm in Helena but I make it down to Bridger as often as I can
Where is?
I ski at Mammoth a lot. Going to take a backcountry/avalanche class to get away from the crowds.

Where is what
Talk to us Anon
Yup, just sold my board though because it was costing me a small fortune to get from the coastal range over to the cascades just to fuck around for a few hours. Another anon said it best, when you pay for a full day pass then you almost feel obligated to continue and that's a bummer...
>>946755
I find that getting there early and then taking a long (1-2 hour) liquid lunch is the best way to go. It's especially enjoyable later in the season when you can sit out on a deck and enjoy the sun.
>>943320
I've been waiting for these threads!
my local is vail, co.
Trying to work on my 360's. no park shit though, i love the natural terrain.
>>943371
wow that is some crazy elevation.
do you know what it is?
It's so fun. I finally got to go to Colorado in December. It's a magical place. I ate shit a bunch learning to snowboard, but I loved every fucking second of it. I can't wait to go back.
>>943371
I want to go to there
>>947441
are you at eldora?
Any cool bros gonna be at Snowshoe between the 20-24 of this month?
If so, snap me ccjg028
General poll:
How many ski with helmet?
>no shitposting
>>947770
always! Brain injury is not comfortable or cool. Just about once a week i say to myself "holy shit im glad i have this helmet on.
pic related
>>947441
i got a job out here. best decision ive ever made.
>>947770
I've probably never skied without a helmet.
Why would you anyway?
I use an helmet.
>>947410
It was around 2000m, pretty high but it's mostly the sea of clouds that gives this impression
This one >>943367 was taken at 3200m, the top of the domain. From here you can ski all the way down to the valley at 800m without any interuption
>>949294
If you are American
2000m = 6560ft
3200m = 10 500ft
800m = 2620
>>947770
I don't
No reason in particular, I would use one if I had one but I don't
I don't do crazy skin, I guess shit can always happen even on regular slopes but still I don't take much risk
>>949302
>crazy skin
Crazy ski*

Sugerloaf and Sundayriver, New England, Maine
Snowbowl in Northern AZ. Goddamn the snow sucks compared to CO. Got discounted lift tickets and free lessons through the college for the four years I was attending, so that was neat. Wish I could've gone this season, but no extra money since I graduated. Why's it gotta be so expensive, man
>>949296
>>949294
Holy shit that's a lot of uninterrupted slope time. Fuck I want it.
>>949660
I know that feel. Pic related is awesome but it's like 120 bucks
>>949672
Oops
Califag here, pic is from the one day I've done in California this season so far (Alpine meadows, Tahoe). We timed it just right for this chair.
Also did 5 days over Christmas in Shiga Kogen in Japan, before I moved back to the US.
Doing a week in Austria from the 25th of Feb. Hitting Ischgl/Samnaun, St. Anton, and Lech, any advice?
I'm a high-intermediate, ride a burton custom flying V. Always helmet.
Massfag here - got back from Killington a week ago. Best mountain I've skied since Breton Woods and Stowe.
Hope I go out west one day - I've always wanted to carve some pow.

after 1.5 concussions and a broken elbow:
>fuck ya give me they helmet
>>949104
>>947770
always. i used to want to be the hoodie/googles kind of guy but whenever i look at the dents and dings on my helmet i am thankful that i wore it. plus it gives me way more confidence to get buck in the in the gnar.
>>943413
dude if you do brek right its basically a snow field the size new England run to get to the glades. a glade twice as long as an new england groomer and then a a long ass groomer that goes right back to a lift with pretty much no line.
fucking fantastic but its going to ruin east coast riding for you for years. i pretty much refuse to go anymore unless i get the shop pass and its a "powder day"
>>949754
how were the crowds? i love killing ton on a week day but the weekends are fucking insane.
Andorra has amazing snow at the moment. Fresh powder and blue skies.
Ice coaster snowboarder here. Working on my carving. I pieced together an hardboot setup and have been riding that more frequently along with my softboot setup. Feels amazing just railing turns.
Looking forward to a trip out west with some friends in a few weeks.
Pic related (not me though).
How do I git gud at turning on a snowboard? It's been awhile.
>>952776
i have taught many a grom on how to snowboard. the most common thing i have found myself yelling at someone struggling to turn is...
dig! dig! dig! dig!
turning "on top of the snow" in your classic heel toe carves is a learned skill. get used to digging in on your turns and eventually you can start using less and less effort to carve and turn on blues and greens.
>>952776
Its a whole body movement, you should feel the burn in your lower back all the way down to your calves. A lot of people I've taught use just there legs and end up with their thighs cramping up. Propper edge use and turning is absolutely the first thing you need to learn. I took a girl out boarding earlier this year, she could go hella fast down the hill, but she never learned to turn. Ill admit I laughed a bit when she ran into a lift pole
>>952792
Did she died
>>952794
No, just a winded her, but I ended up busting my tailbone, ending my season. Lazy ass terrain park maintenance didn't fix the 2 foot dips after every single box and rail, ended up falling into a pit
>>950840
Yeah you nailed it lol, I got invited to Whitetail this Saturday by friends and I bailed.
Breck was fucking amazing, just going from the top of peak 6 down a bowl to into a wide open empty groomer where I could duck in and out of the trees is exactly why I love boarding.
We also did Vail but stuck to the back bowls and Blue Sky, and even though it had been like 4 days since it snowed, conditions were amazing.
>>944540
Fellow mammoth bro, currently working for the mountain. This weekend was shit, hopefully this week will clear up.
>>954971
holy shit, a fellow 4channer in bishop/mammoth? never thought i'd see the day. going to kirkwood later this week
>>954971
also how is working for the mountain? i was thinking about it but figured i'd be busiest on the best snow days, so i decided to see how much debt i go into
>>954984
you will most definitely not get to see the best snow days, im a local here so thats fun but because i work the busiest days i often get to get out on the less busy which is nice to avoid crowds (somewhat). The real perk of working for the mountain is that you get a season pass and most people join for that.
>>952792
nigga it is not a whole body movement. Hips down is all it should be if you're not shit
