I don't personally, and I feel fine about it. I don't think negatively of people who do tho. I probly would if I lived somewhere that it would make sense for me, but by and large it would just be a massive inconvenience. Even then, I still think about getting something I'd like to carry into the woods- my ancient mosin isn't exactly the best inna woods gun.

I usually just carry a small takedown .22 rifle in my pack, really only go exploring around woods or fishing, it weighs like 4~lbs so it's not that heavy and its pretty compact.

I think people equate paranoia with cowardice and this irks people like me who do carry.

I am not paranoid but just see as literally the most practical and effective form of self defense but there is about 5% (you just don't know of the rest of them because most just see it like wearing a seat belt and don't talk about it) of people who do carry who are overly skeptical of people or things they can't easily discern fhe intent of. It's important to note I don't think the paranoid people are shooting others more either, I just don't think even a firearm can solve the root issue and that these people are the ones ant-gun people like to point to as reasons guns are for cowards.

I generally don't carry a weapon with me, simply because of the weight.
When you're already lugging around a 60lb pack adding a gun to that would cut into my endurance for no valid reason.

I'd only really consider bringing one if i was in grizzly areas or doing dedicated hunting hikes.

I usually carry one. I'll either have my CC pistol if I'm out hiking/camping in a fairly populated area or something larger, like my AR or 870, if I'm going to be somewhere private where I can plink. There isn't any terribly dangerous wildlife in my area. We really only have coyotes and occasionally feral dogs around here. People have started seeing black bears over the past couple of years, which is exciting, but not something I really worry about. I mostly carry in case I run into meth heads or something.
