Old one hit image limit, the images in the last thread inspired me to post some of my own.
old mine on private land surrounded by BLM stuff, natgeo sent SCUBA divers to survey and they say it rivals carlsbad iirc.

crazy old dude lived in the abandoned mining town and i assume he made the (wobbly) pvc railing.
didn't stay way too long as the owner saw some things that spooked him

oops, didn't mean to trip
the mine opens into a cave system and at the end of the mine is this giant waterhole that's freezing cold and something like 200 feet deep

aforementioned crazy old guy somehow got a fucking pontoon boat in there

didn't have bright enough lights to illuminate the huge cavern
>>923833
there was a huge widowmaker that was completely dislodged and hanging out on the end of that beam, which was crushed like a toothpick into the supporting beam
there was another large collapse since the last time he'd been there
is this in Utah?>>923833

no, nm
Paid a visit to the Ready Relief mine outside of Julian, CA a while ago. It's the best one I've come across in Southern California so far. Big tunnels and multiple levels, though I've only explored the bottom level so far. Some day I'll visit again with a decent camera so I can get some pictures inside the mine itself.
The only downside is that some fuck claimed the land and put up no trespassing signs on the main entrance. Thus far nobody seems to have cared and I've heard from a few people that the claim is semi-bogus. There's a back way in for plausible deniability if you care.
The area is really interesting. Lots of old buildings and machinery remain and the entire area is way greener than you get most places in San Diego county thanks to the small pond nearby.

Closeup of the bottom level portal. Supposedly there are at least two more, but I haven't made it to them yet.

Pic related was the mine in 1893 when it was heavily worked.
Apparently someone was murdered at the site in the 80s, so it's got a bit of a spooky history.
