>want a camper van to travel the country and live in the woods
>realize that its almost 2017 and no company makes them any more
Why is this?
Do they genuinely think the American population doesn't want these kidns of vehicles any more?
Almost every camper van that has ever been made is either scrapped or out of service
Your best bet, and mine, is a used Toyota Chinook/Dolphin.
Trust, I've been looking.
I mean sportsmobiles exist. Its not factory, and not as hip as an old westfalia...but they do exist.
Or just diy your own out.

Yeah, but they also look like complete ass and usually way too big.

There was no demand in the US for years so the infrastructure is behind the curve.
Also things like having the driver right up against the windshield are no longer legal so say goodbye to joys of having the front wheel under your seat.
If you are a real man you should embrace 70s van culture and do your own custom build.
You could show a little class, do yourself a favor and learn about the HIGHLY UNDERRATED Corvair 95.
As a classic van, it is still affordable.
Pic somehow related.

I don't mind a mutilation of classic Detroit steel when it looks like that.
So yes, class/10!

Though worth mentioning that is the Corvair Greenbriar, not Corvair 95.
Same base.
