improvised sweatlodge in a eerrrrh ... house with a fire inside? erhh not sure if theres an english word for that but its a fair sized building with a large firepit in the middle and we are gonna take a lrge tub of water and dump the stones in to make steam

so you say pile the rocks and then build fire over them? i was thinking it may be a good idea wo have some log under the rock so it will produce coals under the rocks ? maybe i am just overthinking this

I was a fire keeper for a cree sweat once like 8-9 years ago. IIRC you build a normal fire, then once you've got a nice bed of coals you put the rocks on top of it an then load on fuel as fast as you can without smothering the flames until you have a burning pile up to your waist. Then let it burn down and carefully scoop out the hot stones with a shovel.
