Hit up a gym, some of them have auto-belay so you won't need a climbing partner.

Boulder before you climb a route that goes higher than 20 ft. That will give you an idea of how easy it is to slip as a beginner. Climbing is just as much about the feet as it is about the hands and newcomer males always try to turn a route into perpetual pull-ups with shit foot placement.

(cont).....If you are just wanting to go down walls and cliffs fast like a SWAT team then you should buy some tubular nylon webbing and a STATIC rope. Also, learn knots like Over hand, Figure 8, Fishermans knots, bowline, clove hitch, water knot (for tubular webbing [anchor], prussik, Munter Hitch. Get locking carabiners. get gloves. We did a lot of our climbing in sandstone and shale in these odd vertically oriented layers of uplifted and folded rock in the ouchita formation. If you got into the scree you would disturb it as you went and it wasnt safe to go back down. Hence the pants shitting if you did have to go bacl the way you came

Go to a climbing gym/place. They will teach you how the ropes and shit works. That way you will not break your back, for sure. Safety first.

That's why I was up there. This year was really bad - lots of storms took out a lot of equipment.
Generally don't even want to be on the site during a lightning storm - the towers are heavily grounded, but stray voltage can still kill you. Safest place is usually in the doghouse, since the tower's grounded, EGB outside, MGB inside, and pretty much everything in the shack is grounded. A few sites even have lightning shelters nearby.

Being a contractor I can negotiate my rates... I make it worth my time.
