Went on a 4 day 3 night trip to the northern cascades in Washington state.
Pic dump/discussion thread.
Drying all the wood/tinder we could find.
The day we came in was raining/hailing. Had been raining the whole week leading up to our trip, so the wood was all completely saturated. We couldn't get a fire started the first night. Just enough to boil some water.

Love these threads, thanks for great pics. Looks comfy af
View of our camp. It was on the top of a small hill, with a cliff for the far edge. Gave us an amazing view for meals, waking up, or lounging.

Glad you're enjoying this trip with me, lots more to come. I'm just going through the pictures for the first time.
Had the entire place to ourselves. For about 15 miles.
Only heard day hikers passing through two times. Ran into many more on our way out.
Our spot was about 5 miles in, then we made camp there for all 3 nights. Wandered all around our area the second day, wandered further up the trail the 3rd day.
Temperatures ranged from 60f to below 30f.
Other than rain/hail/fog/overcast the first day, we had almost no clouds.
Nights got pretty windy, but it ended up helping our fire, as the wood was wet at all times.
There were 11 "lakes" all about the size of a pond (that we counted) most were connected together with streams, the ones that weren't drawing had visible water paths, though.

The lake is frozen in this picture.
Last one for tonight. I have about 30 more worth sharing that I'll try to get uploaded tomorrow. Any questions about the trip, I'll answer when I post more.

I'm J. Ellis OP. Was in northern cascades this spring. Also E.C. Manning in B.C. It was beautiful. Beats this Arizona desert.

Why do people hanbg bear bags 4 inches from the ground?
>>874708
Not a bear bag. Just a bag with food in it. It's barely off the ground to keep mice and squirrels away. Also to keep the food away from our tents, and also to keep it from blowing down the mountain we were on.
Only wild life we saw was frogs, squirrels, and eagles. The ponds had some water bugs, tadpoles, and what looked like underwater spiders.

This looks comfy as fuck I really need to find someone who will do a multi day hike/camp with.
Thank God it was too cold for mosquitoes. Neither of us got any insect bites the whole trip. The gnats were mildly present around sunset, but it didn't bother me at all.

The trip I originally planned to do solo. Requested a week off work, and a coworkers/friend happened to have the same week requested off for vacation as well.
I was nervous he was not going to be prepared for the below freezing conditions at night, but he bought all the gear he needed, and ended up being a great adventure buddy.
We spent a few hours a day separate to explore and be in awe on our own, and the rest was gathering wood/water together, taking a hit, or drinking absurd amounts of tea.
I brought my solar charger and Bluetooth speaker. Downloaded 4 hours of singer songwriter songs from the 70s, and 9 hours of Celtic music. Was definitely enhancing meals, and busy times. The radio was off most of the time, though.

I grabbed that 1.5 liter glaceau bottle on the hike up. We're almost certain this stuck up older lady was the one who left it, jammed in a bush, as she was the only one we saw, and the bottle was definitely fresh. She even chastised us about making a mess when she saw our big ass packs. Funny how elitists can be so hypocritical.
We ended up using the bottle for easier filtering of the pond water before we boiled it. Wrapped a two fold banana over the mouth, and it fit perfectly in our collapsible jug. I packed her glaceau bottle /out/ and its now in the recycling in my complex.

Try that this time of year. Rain is love, rain is life.

Baker lake area?
First pic reminds me of the tree on Sauk mountain that has the mt shuksan view.

Looks like Baker Lake is about 35ish miles north west of where we were, so close enough. The name of the place we stayed is Cutthroat Lakes.
