ITT: Unusual gear you use while /out/
I use a steel drinks shaker as a tea brewer. It stands perfectly upright in a fire, and the top is great for straining out tea leaves. Considering paying to get a handle welded on it.

Why not just make loose leaf tea in your water kettle?

This IS my kettle.

But why weld a bunch of shit to it instead of just buying a legitimate, lighter kettle.

I said I'm considering it. Might also make something myself out of steel wire.

I just use a Jetboil.... though I suppose making things less efficient does give one something to do with all that free time.

Pretty neat idea, OP.
I use a full-size, insulated, rocket stove. I really don't know anyone that uses them full-size (the fire isn't meant to actually touch the cooking vessel otherwise it is an inefficient fire.)

just put punch two holes on the lip and put a bail on it yourself. Almost as good as a handle, plus you can suspend it.
I use a steel straw (the 99c ebay type) as a 'pocket bellows' on the cheap.
