Post affordable, fashionable, /out/ clothing.
Shirt is from Legendary Whitetails
>>863792
This jacket is 60.00 but is the same in every way as 300.00 ones other than that a waxed jacket looks cooler.
>>863824
Yeah but it's NORTH FACE so it has obnoxious logos and the lining falls apart after a few months
>>863826
Tent damage looks like user error (neglect and storage in weather extremes).
>>863831
>tent damage
That's a jacket, and the only error was using it
>>863792
I love legendary white tails.
>>863792
Are you the one that posted about outdoor looks on /fa/, the other day?
I didn't see if you saw my fit.
>>864063
Unfortunately know, I've been looking for one so I just decided to make my own
>>864076
Unfortunately no*
Okay I'll try and contribute..

Probably not very /fa/ with all the green but idgaf
Also, fan of Devold jumpers, Barbour wax jackets and /k/ cross-over military smocks (but fuck the gorka),
I wear this pretty much every /out/ing
It's from american eagle but I don't think they sell it anymore

OP said affordable. I wouldn't consider $150 pants "affordable."

That's probably me then.

Am I going to make it, /out/?
>>864107
That is a women's jacket, fag.
I never understood the fad of gore tex, hardshell and other waterproof shit, i get soft shell for hiking since it does have decent breathability, maybe it's because i have shitty experience with the waterproof shit since i basically get drenched in sweat on the first tree i cut down. I always have and still do use a military jacket that's lightly waxed for some water-repellent abilities, but never intend on getting any gore-tex or hardshell since it can't really breathe well, kinda defeats the purpose of being waterproof if you're just gonna get soaked from sweat anyway.
At first glance gorka 3/4s seem cheap and reliable. Any anons have experience with them?
>>864691
Yeah I know, that's why I wear it
>>864103
I like all that too but can't even imagine it being cold enough to wear more than a ranger shirt.
>>863792
Gorka 4 anorak.
I want a boonie hat that actually has a wide brim that's floppy as fuck, but made of cotton since I dont like hot polyester against my head.
Recommend me something, most tacticool options have tiny girl brims and most /out/ hats are either thin polyester or look retarded
Carhartts are great. Warm, durable, lots of pockets. Just wax them and you've got an all-purpose /out/ jacket.
Shia core is the best somewhat /out/ style

Everyone knows fur is the best /out/ material. Such a shame it's so expensive.

A Goretex overhyped overpriced stuff?
>>865144
Depends, if you can find a good deal they it isn't hype, But id it has "arc'terx" you can sure bet it is.
Also depends on the gore-tex, it's just a brand name that makes a lot of different products.
Fjallraven pants, merino wool base layers, Pendleton wool, and leather boots.
Throw in a Filson Mackinaw Bib and a Johnson Woolen Mills jacket for the deep winter.
>>865250
They make some overpriced shit for sure but I gotta say, their pants are pretty cheap for the brand-name and durable/light as fuck
>>865306

Good taste but you're talking about a $1200 outfit when OP asked for affordable.

>>865144
I got this jacket as its a relatively cheap gore-tex shell in comparison to other companies and I love it. The Torsoflo venting is just awesome for dumping heat and its really neat being able to clip your hipbelt together inside your jacket and sinch the zips up around it, or wear it poncho-style.

400 euros.
Would be worth it, I think. But I have other purchases to make first (ofc)
>>865981
I think you'd be better off getting one tailor made at that price. Sourcing the correct high quality wool would be the main thing.
Wrist cuffs don't look great on the Jagdfieber one, and it really should have a poachers pocket. An inner pocket inside the handwarmer for pens/etc like the twodog blanket smocks.
Also got to wonder how functional the neck section is when unbuttoned. Does it just flap around or what?

Sucks not having a job but at least it's still 30ºc outside.
>>866013
Dude, expensive clothing only makes being outside marginally easier. You can cover all your /out/-clothing needs in thrift stores and surplus. Just buy local brand hiking clothes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Anyone else have the problem of large shoulders and chest? I have to wear 3xl just to fit my shoulders comfortably. It's actually pretty annoying.
>>866568
Lemme ask you something. Stand up. Stand naturally. Where are your hands? If you gave a thumbs up would the putting in front of you? Or would they be sort of pointing at each other with your knuckles facing in front of you?
>>866571
Pointing at each other.
>>866013
Fjallraven is a meme. Mostly waxed cotton garbage and overpriced polycotton pants and backpacks.
>>866573
Have you got anything right now with sleeves that are kind of too short for you?
>>866584
Yeah. I bought some long sleeved shirts a few months ago because they were the only things available at the time and they're pretty uncomfortable. I feel like a giant fatass if I shop in the big and tall stuff though, but it's the only stuff that really fits me as far as buttom-up or long sleeve.
>>866586
Put one of them on, stand up, squeeze your shoulder blades together.
>>866587
What is this going to accomplish?
>>866752
>>866573 indicates that his thumbs point at each other. Indicating forward, slumped shoulders. Shoulders are supposed to be back. If you point out your thumbs they should point forward.
I myself have slumped shoulders and am working on them. In the course of working on them I found that clothes I owned with sleeves that were too short suddenly became fine.
>>866956
Wait, I thought he wanted me to slump my shoulders? Mine are usually straight and upright because I was always told to practice good posture. It's not only my arm length though anyway, it's also the size of my shoulders and chest. It's just hard to find a comfortable fit that isn't an oversized t-shirt.
>>867007
I wanted you to stand "naturally" and tell me if they were slumped or not.
If I tell you how to stand I don't know how you would normally stand.
>>867009
They're not slumped normally then.
Hey thread.
I'm on boats. And these boats frequently get wet. I have a good outer layer but on choppy days with a bit of luck my mid layer fleece will get soaked anyway and then I am god damn freezing.
Can you recommend a wool mid layer? I understand it will be expensive but that's ok. Most of what I'm finding from google looks more /fa/ than it does warm though.
>>867032
Icebreaker generally do good work. Ever considered a fisherman's sweater? I mean the proper ones made of raw wool that have all their lanolin and smell.
>>867032
Just about any 100% wool sweater will do probably. Even when soaked wool holds heat pretty well.
The only Jacket you'll ever need.
>>867089
Where's the guys head?
>>867153
here ya go
>>865057
I have what appears to be that same jacket (Detroit jacket I think it's called?) in the blue/grey color, had it for about 4 years. It's got the flannel lining, my only gripes with them is the sleeves don't have inner cuffs so wind gets up in there, and being that I'm tall and ordered a tall, when I sit in a car the back of it pushes against the seat and raises up on my neck. Beyond that, they're great, I get compliments on mine occasionally, and yes they're very durable
This is my newest jacket that I can't wait to try out this winter. Bundeswehr Fleckatarn Parka. I hang out on /k/, but I knew about flecktarn before I knew what 4chan even was, I dunno why I put off getting a parka until now, but I just got mine plus the liner (jacket $20 in my actual Gr 15 size, liner was $18). Seems very well made
I also can't recommend the Bundeswehr longjohns highly enough (for an under layer or lounging). They have a really nice fleece lining and elastic cuffs at the ankles and waist, Cabelas had them for sale last year, a six pack of them for like $15, I was drunk when I ordered them and accidentally ordered 2 six packs, I gave a pair to my girlfriend, mom, and friend of mine (who oddly enough all have close to the same waist as me) they all loved them
>>867153
Verusteleka has several ghosts working for them
(btw the parka pictured is very old/worn, the BW changed the design a few times, the ones I ordered were unissued and much darker, with firmer material)
>>867034
>Icebreaker
Seems a lot of them are blends like Ibex.
What are some good pants for wet weather?
I'm sick of walking to class, getting drenched and having to sit there damp and uncomfortable for hours
>>864101
Okay faggots gonna pull the trigger on pic related. Avoiding the red check because I don't want to be mistaken for a lumberjack hipster.
Anyone got any alternatives? Looking for:
>Mid layer
>Wool
>Windproof weave (so no fisherman jumper)
>Not going to pick up every twig and leaf (so no fisherman jumper)
>Tough enough to bushwhack, carry wood, scramble and climb in
gaiters are quite nice

Imo Gorka 3 is better.
You can't even open the Gorka 4 jacket.
>>869787
where do i buy a fucking gorka 3!?
And would it be autist to wear it in public with the digital flora pattern?
>>864107
Target has something that looks very similar for 40$ right now. Thinking about picking it up because I need a jacket with pocketsss
>>869759
The more shaggy fleeces make me nostalgic for when no one made them and I couldn't afford them.
>>867246

>>869827
Its pretty weird how the backpack we know for being the choice of 40+ year old mothers has become "cool" some places.
>>863792
Can anyone point me where to find affordable & thick jumpers for winter?
(I got sent here from /fa/, so it's not for outdoors activities).
>>865101
Nooooo.
The ones like those in your pic are fucking awful. Also, the only ones you can find are made cheaply in Vietnam and China.
>>870251
You can't be that subjective. Pay attention to the weight of the fabric, as in its ''grams per square metre'' (gsm).
Product weight is also a good indicator. I'd say roughly speaking if a medium jumper is 500g+ it's gonna be thick.
But remember thick doesn't always mean warm. It's the dead air space within the material, or between the material and other layers/your skin that keeps the warmth.
IMO I'd say buy a few different types and see what works for you. A cable knit jumper (you can get cheap wool blend ones) is bomb under a windproof layer but can be a bit cold by itself. Polar fleece is also good and comes in different fabric weights but isn't as /fa/
Looking for a new everyday winterjacket. Is stuff from montane any good? Found the extreme smock to be nice looking and affordable.
>>870346
as an every day jacket? It's a pertex/pile single layer system designed for cold weather exertion.
Awful choice as an every day jacket IMO.
>>865003
Sauce on those boots?
does no one get their mom to knit them sweaters anymore?
I buy different kinds of quality wool and a few months later I get to pick up the best winter wear I know of.
>>870577
Two of my favourites here and two Icelandic ones are in the making.
>>869787
>You can't even open the Gorka 4 jacket.
well that is what makes it an anorak.
>>865101
No. There are many better milsurp and hiking boots. I own a pair however and wear them often, with a set of Dr. Scholls of course. I'm thankful I was never issued these.
>>863824
The marmot one is better at the same price and unfortunately the Arc'teryx are worth every penny.
>>863824
Newfags please look at this post and get an idea of how seriously you should take /out/ advice

I absolutely love flannel shirts and jackets, they're just too damn comfy when it's getting cold.
Last year I bought 2 nice and thick flannel jackets, only to realise it's way too wet most of the time to wear them as the outer layer, but they're too warm to wear as the midlayer, so I mostly just wear them now when I chop wood in my garden.
Made me feel pretty dumb, but this year I'll get it right and buy something waterproof.
>>871511
What pants?
I'm moving to rural North Dakota next month from Orlando and I have no winter clothing worth a damn, I've been told that cotton is not my friend in a cold climate, I've got $100 to spend on outer wear, I'm not a flashy person by nature so I'm looking for something sensible, I really have no idea what to get!?
Where to buy cheap yet nice flannel shirts?
