What are good places to find amber? The only time I can remember finding some myself was in a playground climbing frame, where there was lots of amber in the wood and you could get the pieces with some fiddling.
I collect them for fun, I don't expect to find any fossils in them or anything.
I dunno but I heard the opaque (non see-through) ones are the most valuable in money terms. If you find any then try to sell it.

Where I live you can find amber on the beaches by the sea. Because amber is so light it is most likely to stay ashore if it's wrapped in/trapped by seaweed, that way the waves wont carry it to sea again.
So, go to your nearest beach after a very windy day, and turn over the seaweed you can find and you might be lucky.

Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna have some amazing specimens, the best in the world actually- well worth the trip.

It sounds like you found hardened sap and not true Amber.

Resinous trees like pines would probably be your best bet. I remember some bushes by my elementary school that would make big globs of sap after being trimmed. No idea what kind of bushes they were though
