season 2 winner seemed like a such a cuck, he must have been tough since he held out for so long, but he just seemed to fuck up time and time again, never did anything interesting and didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing. What spooked me out about the show in the first season was that the runner-up was the exact same age as me. He was super charismatic in the beginning, and enthusiastic about everything, even up until day 20. The longest I've ever stayed alone in backcountry was 5 days, and it wasn't anywhere near as harsh as some of the shit as Vancouver island. He really put me to shame.

I wish I could have a beer with that dude.

So how do I get on this show?

There have been people going to far as to set up classes to teach folks how to be selected for game show/reality show casting agents.
Even on shit like "Who wants to be a Millionaire?" they screen out people that would be too bizarre or boring on camera.

The difference was the he was really the only one there motivated by winning.
No one else really needed the prize, so they got to the point where they start thinking "how much is all this suffering really worth to me," and when at the end of the day you're only out there to prove something to yourself or someone else it doesn't seem like much.
The guy who won was "working poor" and needed the money to give his kids a better future. Way better motivation than "I need to find myself."

The chick in the angelic spot was basically just on vacation because she was sad about her kid or something. The moment it stopped being enjoyable and she had to skip a meal or two she ditched.


The one that confused me was the fat chick. She yelled at a bear that was rooting through her camp, broke down in tears about the "Rage monster" and had to go home. It was just weird.

you know what show I liked? Naked and Afraid. It was actually kind of interesting from the trial and failure, psychology, and starting from near scratch with like one tool point of view. I found I got over the whole naked fascination thing pretty fast. XL was totally fascinating with the tribal/societal things that were going on.
