Texas fag here with plenty of overnight experience, but mostly in the heat. Wondering what sort of gear I would need to survive 32 degree nights (somewhat comfortably). Might be worth mentioning that I have very very little body fat.
You won't need some ridiculous low-level degree sleeping bag.
If it says 40F it'll be fine in 30F.
If 30F it'll be fine in 20F
if 20F then 15F
this is based purely on experience during cold weather related outtings.
I used to love warm weather but loath it now due to all the ticks, mosquitos, chiggers, spiders, fucking crawly bits and bobs. fuck that.
Just bring a neck cover, a warm fleece hat, a hand warmer or two and some hot-chocolate and whiskey.
Cheers.

If you mean to survive as in a minimalist point of view, you can do it with regular clothes and a fire just like brian robeson

Is that big bend?

Op, I'm in NM, you sound hot. How you doin'?

as a fellow texas fag, just get a good double bag sleep system.
I slept outside on a cot no tent with my army system well into the teens. I used to love going on training in leanardwood during winter because it was so comfy to watch the planes dogfight while i drifted off to sleep in my double bag.
if you stay dry winter camping is pretty easy.

I'm not disputing that fact friend.
My perceptions were you only carried a singular pair of socks with you per outting.
